Journey To Discoveries

"Each moment we live in a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that never was before and never will be again. And what do we teach our children in school? We teach them that 2 plus 2 equals 4 and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: 'Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all millions of years that have passed, there has never been a child like you…?' "— Pablo Casals

A Legacy of Nurturing Hearts in Our Community

Since our founding in 1977, Adventures Preschool Children's Center has been a cherished cornerstone of early education. We believe that every child is an individual of unique worth—a core philosophy that has guided our warm and professional educators for decades.

Our journey is built on the trust of local families who seek an artisanal, child-centered approach. With 12 classrooms and over 100 students, we excel at fostering a safe, playful environment where curiosity leads the way, we prepare our students for a lifelong love of learning and discovery in the classroom and beyond.

The History of Adventures Preschool

In 1977, Linda Silvio founded Adventures Preschool Children's Center and created a legendary program with the help of her late husband Frank and incredible teachers. In 2022, Linda Silvio retired and sold Adventures Preschool Children’s Center to her long-time employee Lydia Sherman. Lydia worked as an administrator at the school from 1996-2022, and her own children are graduates from the center. Currently, Lydia and family manages our team of long-term teachers and staff with the help of our Center Directors Sue Mele and Dory Coutts.

“My son is currently enrolled in the toddler program here, and he loves it! He started in the infant room when he was 3.5 months old, and we've had a great experience with the staff throughout my son's time at Adventure's (he's almost two now). I appreciate that all of the staff is accredited, and many of them have been here for over 7-10 years! That speaks very highly of the environment, both for the staff and for my son!”

Adventures isn’t just a childcare center; it’s a community. They helped our children grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually in ways we never imagined. We’re so grateful we found such a loving, trustworthy place for our children to learn and thrive. Two of our children went there from infants through pre-k graduation. Our 3rd went from infants to toddlers, before we moved away. I cried when we had to switch daycares because we love Adventures so much and I didn’t want to leave there. My kids still talk about the wonderful teachers they had there and the friends they made – even the 2 year old!
My middle child started kindergarten this year; her teacher commented that she knew more than half of the letters and sounds that they don’t expect incoming kindergarteners to know at all. Kudos to Linda, Dana, and all the teachers she had along the way who prepared her! Choosing childcare is such a big decision that is often very stressful for a parent. I was very nervous the first time I dropped my oldest off, but after day one, I didn’t worry or second-guess our choice. The teachers and staff are truly amazing and a village to help you raise your children.

“As a working parent, leaving your kids in the care of someone else is hard. Adventures make it significantly easier. The teachers are loving, kind, and dedicated. My daughter (3) loves it here and has learned so much, while my son (11 months) kicks his legs in excitement as we walk in every day. That, to me, is a ringing endorsement!”

“Our daughter has been going to Adventures, and we can't recommend them highly enough. Each day our daughter comes home with drawings and art projects she's worked on, along with a daily note that provides communication and informs us about her day. Beyond being taught letters and numbers, she's learned about different cultures. There are yoga, gymnastics, music, and dance classes throughout the week.”

  • Our children have had a positive learning experience at Adventures Preschool. The school has caring, kind staff members who have treated our children as their own. Our kids have learned a great deal in their time at Adventures and we are grateful for the staff for all they have done to prepare our children for elementary school. Adventures offers multiple specials like yoga, music class, movement classes and field trips which keep the kids engaged and active throughout the day. Our kids come home with huge smiles and loads of stories each day, what more could a parent want!?
Adventures, we thank you for all you do! I highly recommend Adventures Preschool to anyone looking for a positive daycare experience.

“The best part about Adventures Preschool Children's Center is the teachers that work there. The entire staff is just phenomenal at what they do. They truly care about each student, and it really shows. My daughter and I could not be happier with them.”
